The Norm For Falu

Meet Alyssa Falu, the girl who was born with a lovely sense of style.

It's in her genes, I swear. She doesn't even try! Haha. Anyways, today her outfit was too good to just let it be. I had to take a picture of it. I recently purchased a new camera so that means better quality, videos, and more posts like this (of other people). Hope you enjoyed!

Tiny

Knit Sweater: GAP l Blue Skinny Jeans: American Eagle l Oxfords: Bakers

I felt so tiny in this outfit. That knit buried me but it was oh so comfy. I'm always with tall people so that might contribute to the fact that I feel small. I feel like no one is reading this! Comment and give us feedback or drop your blogs in the comments so I can check 'em out...if you want :) My Boyfriend tag is coming soon!

Deserted-Outfit Of The Day

This is Yanesi and she is a junior from our school. I asked Angie to take a picture of her outfit because we loved it so much. She has a great sense of style and always looks so put together. Sometimes, I wish I could just steal her wardrobe. Haha. Anyways, that goes to show that anyone can have their own sense of style instead of following trends (unless you like doing that) or following other teens and such. Hopefully, we'll be seeing more of her around here.

I LOVE her necklace.

Monday's are dreadful? Not in my world.

This fine Monday consisted of discussions on politics, analyzing a theater critic's review on "The Crucible", taking a fun Geometry diagnostic, and talking about safety precautions in Chem. (I'm not being sarcastic.) Monday's should always be the day where you start that fresh piece of paper, a sharpened (in my case) lead pencil, and a fresh mind. Friday is the day when you want to quote Rebecca Black about the weekend and watch the clock tick by every second in class. Isn't high school great? Tons of homework, brainfarts, and trees 'down the drain', yet when summer comes, we forget everything. After school ended, me and Angie did fun stuff! Haha. Starting this year, her cousin joined our school and we decided to take this opportunity to snap some photos of him. Hopefully, he'll let us snap some more in the near future. Here are the pics!
I wonder what she was looking at. Haha

  Tree hugger!

 Love this one so much!
By the way, I cut that shirt! Props to me.
Haaha. No eyebrows. She looks younger.
Introducing: Angie's cousin, Eurys! I swear, her whole family is going to end up being on the blog. Well, at least her cousins.

Man, Angie's family members sure like looking away from the camera. Lol. Just kidding.

I wonder what he thought of my sketches. :o
Hey, at least this one doesn't mind being in the sun unlike someone I know. *cough* Angie*cough*

Angie sends y'all fish kisses and hugs from myself!

Red Tank

 It's Angeline here!

Hey peeps, todays post is gonna be  about how to wear a tank in 4 different wayyyyyyssss! Eh, so lets get started. The different links at the bottom content of the tank and the 4 items you can add to it to give it a twist.

TANK!: I chosed this tank top because its really simple, and it's not a patterned tank it's just a solid bright summer color.http://www.hm.com/us/product/92349?article=92349-J#article=92349-J

       ITEMS:
1. You can add this awesome hippie looking poncho during the night when it gets a bit chily.http://www.hm.com/us/product/92050?article=92050-B
2. If it's hot during the day and a poncho doesn't come across your mind, you can add a thin braided brown belt and wear it on your waist. http://www.hm.com/us/product/92954?article=92954-A
3. If you want to go out to dinner with your friends or something during the night time, you can add a heavy looking necklace like this one to avoid the tank from looking too plain and simple. http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=acc%5Fnecklace&product%5Fid=1000019165&Page=13&pgcount=25

4.  Lastly, if you're wearing this tank in the afternoon and lets not forget it's getting cooler by the afternoon, you can wear a thin fashionable scarf like this one :]. http://www.hm.com/us/product/93594?article=93594-A

Thrifting For The First Time

Yesterday, July 2nd of 2011,I (Mariyesi)went to my local Salvation Army.I found out where it was when I was picking up my Coastal Scents 10 blush palette, which is mighty awesome, from the FedEx office. Anyways, I've been recently obsessed with watching The Fashion Citizen and Clothes Encounters on YouTube. They are amazing, have a great unique style, and are a great source of inspiration and entertainment. You guys should definitely check 'em out. Back to the point. They are the ones who introduced me to the concept of thrifting and second hand stores. Let me tell you something, my parents are those kind of people who are very opposed to used clothing. My mom absolutely loves shopping as long as the clothes are good quality, cute, and NEW. My dad is the same except I doubt he would use the exact word 'cute'. Haha. When I arrived at the store, I was completely amazed and excited that there were so many racks of clothes to choose from! I literally had this HUGE grin on my face starting from ear to ear. I was also squealing a bit too loud. My father thought I was going crazy. His exact words were 'Mari! Are you going crazy? We need to take you to a mental hospital!' I laughed so much. I think that day was one of the best days of my life. It was great. There were so many vintage tops that probably had a lot of history and some funky smells. After 5 minutes of browsing, my hand was just about to fall off from all of the clothes I had in my hand. I didn't really get to look through the pants just because there was no fitting room so I couldn't try them on. I was really looking forward to get some high-waisted shorties. :( My favorite part of the store was the purse area. It was like Balenciaga pooped out some designs that weren't good enough for them. Well, it was good enough for me! And I guess Dooney&Burke ate too many prunes because they sure pooped out a good deal for me. I found an authentic Dooney & Burke for a dollar!!! A DOLLAR. AN EFFIN DOLLAR. I can't even buy a decent pack of gum with a dollar. I got a Dooney&Burke bag for 4 quarters, 100 pennies, 10 dimes, or 20 miserable nickels. The whole car ride home I was just repeating this phrase: 'A dollar? Daddy, am I dreaming?' The grand total was $7.98. I got three blouses and three bags that were a dollar each. Overall, I definitely think you need to have an open mind and strong will to not gag at the smell. Thrifting is something that everyone should try before they die. It's a great buy and you will always find something as said by The Fashion Citizen.

Skinny Stripe

This was one of last days of our very memorable year as a freshman. We have gone through so much in so little time. It felt like the first day of school was just yesterday. All those thesis essays, book reviews, and studying right before class sessions (we are BIG procrastinators) are done. That last photo is Mari's first picture in the blog. :) She claims to be only the photographer and nothing else. We all know she wants to do an outfit of the day. So long freshman year!

Diary Of A Middle School Fashionista #2- Angeline

Vintage Edge

In middle school, I was WEIRD! hahaha not that I minded anyways. My style was unique and not in a good way, in a hot mess kind of way. My hair was always oily and too straight and I didn't do much with it but just let it out, which was a big mistake.
If I could go back to my middle school years, I would definitely give myself some tips that I wish I knew back then. If you're in middle school, it can be hard to try and find yourself and express who you are through clothes. You don't want to end up looking like it's all too much and too grown up, but you also don't want to look too child-ish. An outfit like this conveys   both in one which is perfecto :].
You can wear a loose beige t-shirt like this one with high waisted dark blue jeans, a pair of navy blue Dr.Martens (which i loveee) This makes your outfit look casual with a hint of edge to it, and a satchel. You can either do a high messy bun with this, and if you have really curly hair you can do a low side loose pony. If you want you can wear mascara, light pink blush and some snob or angel by MAC to keep it simple. Bye bye, good luck :]!

Diary of a Middle School Fashionista #1-Mariyesi

Diary of a Middle School Fashionista #1

So remember those middle school days where it was fun to wear striped neon pink tights with a bright green glow-in-the-dark tee-shirt. Well, I was one one of those chicks whose hair was horrible and frizzy. It was always pulled back to an unflattering ponytail or a really low bun. Trust me, I don't have that good hair.
My hair is 100% Dominican so when i wash it and don't go to a beauty salon pronto, SATAN has been released! HAHA I had the bushiest eyebrows and the worst girl-stache that I happily inherited from my mummy. If I could take a trip back in time to middle school and give younger me some advice, I'd happily go.
Now this first outfit doesn't necessarily have to be for middle schoolers because I would definitely wear it now. It's more of a "dance" type outfit. I forgot to put in the leggings though. :( Some cute patterned leggings would complete the outfit. The jean top goes really well with the mesh-type skirt and then the velvet oxfords. It's like three completely different fabrics which I LOVE to mix up. Th clutch also adds a vintage feel to it because it's beaded and has that worn-out gold colored stars on it which is soo fab. The makeup is very light because when you are going to a dance, you want to look more dressy and fancy.
When I was in middle school, my makeup was HORRENDOUS. I had my black eyeliner smudged all around like an emo raccoon . Wow, this post turned out to be really long but anyways, so long! Hope I helped and hope you enjoyed! Angie will be posting her version soon.

Cold in the Summer :/...?

Ello! This is Angie and Mari, reunited and it feels so goooood :). Today is s actually a weird day because, its summer, and....IT'S COLD! It's funny because when you go outside, you see a whole bunch of people wearing shorts, freezing assuming that it'll be hot like it's been all week, but guess not. So, we're just going to give some tips of how to still keep a summer look in a chilly weather like this.

     1. Cozy Knit Sweatah's!
Knit sweaters are purr-fect for this bipolar weather. As seen in this outfit, Angie is wearing a forest green sweater from Urban Outfitters, It's normally as long as a shirtdress but because it was a little bit hotter out so I decided to throw her some rolled up shorties and some mid-calf booties.
      2. BOOTS!
Oh my water (same as OMG with a twist)! I'm going crazy about all types of boots this summer ranging from Dr.Martens or 'Docs' (as i like to call them) to Hunter boots. Docs are really versatile in general. You can literally wear them with ANYTHING. I have literally tried to think of an outfit wear you couldn't wear Docs but it's just impossible. Anyways, Docs or Hunter boots look good for that edgy/rocker chic feel. You can be all laidback with your Docs, rolled up shorts, fringed bag, and a nice flowy boat-neck top in order to survive the mini chills and you can maybe add a studded leather jacket.
      3. BLUSH/HIGHLIGHTER
Sorry for the minimal use of typing in CAPS lock...excuse our sarcasm. Blush is Mariyesi's absolute favorite thing to use not only in the summer but ALL YEAR LONG. Angie usually doesn't like it because she doesn't like to look tan and she doesn't like blush too much. When it's all rainy outside (and it's still summer) you want to look nice and dewy, right? No? SAY YES! You should wear a cream blush which gives you that glowing effect on your cheekers! Highlighter is also one of those things that make you glow like an angel. We prefer Girl Meets Pearl, Benefit's HighBeam, or those MAC mineralized skin finishes thingy's. They give you such a healthy glow that we can't stress.
    4.Fedoras or just hats
Hats are such a great invention. They are so versatile. If you are having a bad hair day, you can just grab one and walk straight out the door. When it's raining and you don't feel like lugging around an umbrella, fedoras are usually worn in the summer where I live. Hats can also spice up any boring outfit. Perhaps you have a silky racerback, high waisted shorts, and some wedges on. Add a hat and voila, perfecto!
Hope we helped out!

Burgundy Flowers! OOTD

It was REALLY sunny out the day we shot this and it we just a random photo shoot and we weren't prepared. Angie looks like she's thinking 'Hey sexy!' LOL Type in the comments what you think she's thinking. Oh, and the top part( camisole, floral top, and necklace) is from Forever 21(I personally have a love-hate relationship with that store) the jeans are from American Eagle, and the oxfords are from Bakers
